Ingredients

  • 200 g spaghetti (£0.53)
  • 50 g parmesan (£0.70)

Cupboard Essentials

  • 2 tbsp marmite

Instructions

One of my fave comforting classics from when I was a student. Only 3 ingredients, any long/thin pasta, marmite and parm.

  • Add your spaghetti to salted water, setting a timer 1 minute shy of al dente.
  • When the timer is about to go off, add a ladle of the pasta water to a tbsp of marmite. This will loosen up the marmite to make it easier to evenly coat the spaghetti. Whisk to combine & set aside.
  • Reserve a mug of pasta water and drain la spaghetti when the timer goes off.
  • In the pan, add the runny marmite with the spaghetti, a handful of grated parm and another ½ ladle of pasta water. Stir vigourously until the residual heat cooks off the pasta water, the parm will also absorbs the water and leave you with an emulsified yeasty, cheesy sauce. Serve up and enjoy!

Marmite quantity is to taste so keep adding until your yeasty palette is satisfied 🤘
