Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (£3.85)
  • Spring onion, thinly sliced to serve (£0.65)

Cupboard Essentials

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Start by removing the skin off of your salmon fillets. Slice into cubes.
  • Place the salmon in a bowl and coat in cornflour, then paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Toss to combine.
  • To a frying pan, add the olive oil and coat the base of the pan. Evenly distribute the salmon bites across the pan. Fry over a medium heat for 4-5 minutes, leaving undisturbed.
  • After this time, rotate the pieces and add the soy sauce, honey and a pinch of salt and pepper. Continue to fry, stirring occasionally for a further 3 minutes.
  • Remove from the pan and top with optional spring onion and an extra crack of black pepper.

Notes

  • Cut salmon into even-sized pieces to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Marinate salmon in spices for 15 minutes to deepen the flavour.
  • Preheat the pan until it's hot to get a crispy sear on the nuggets.
  • Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding and soggy salmon.
  • Don’t overcook the salmon to keep the inside tender.
