Easy Low Sugar BBQ Sauce

- 100 g sugar-free ketchup
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 heaped smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Pinch of salt
- Optional 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 100 ml water
Combine all of the ingredients into a pan over a low heat. Cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, the sauce BBQ sauce should have thickened nicely and the spices should have bloomed.
Pour into a sterilised jar and store in your fridge for up to 1 month. Enjoy!
- Don't skip the simmer time as the spices really need to bloom and meld together.
- Make a double batch of the low sugar BBQ sauce and keep a jar in the fridge for impromptu BBQ nights.
- Taste as you go and adjust the sweetness or acidity to match your preference.
- If the sauce gets too thick in the fridge, just stir in a splash of warm water to loosen it up.
