What is Boursin Cheese Pasta?

This delicious Boursin cheese pasta got its start as the viral TikTok pasta with feta and tomatoes. Since then, it has gotten a makeover with Boursin cheese instead of feta, which adds a delicious creaminess and richness to the recipe.

Boursin cheese is a soft cheese that comes in different flavors, including rosemary and black garlic, basil and chive, etc. It’s a French cheese with a similar consistency to cream cheese, but it’s creamier, lighter, and more flavorful.

It also melts extremely well, which is why it’s great in this Boursin cheese pasta recipe. It has a creamy, milky, and slightly sweet flavour that pairs well with herbs. This cheese should always be in the fridge unless you’re eating it. It can sit out for up to two hours at a gathering, but be sure to put it away before that time.

Ingredients

Boursin Cheese
I recommend using the garlic & herbs Boursin for this Boursin cheese pasta. However, you can use any other herby flavours you see fit. They should all work well for this Boursin pasta bake.

Cherry Tomatoes
I’ve included cherry tomatoes in this recipe, but grape tomatoes will also work. You can even use a pack of medley tomatoes if they’re smaller.

Pasta
This recipe calls for any type of short pasta, such as penne, ziti, and rigatoni. You can also use lentil pasta to boost the protein content.

Variations/ Adaptations

Here are a few ways to make this pasta with Boursin cheese your own! For example, you can use a different starch instead of regular pasta. This Boursin cheese pasta works with lentil pasta, rice, potatoes, or tortellini. Simply make sure you simmer/cook the starch first before tossing it with the baked cheese, herbs, and veg.

You can also make this recipe more filling by including protein, like shrimp, chicken, pancetta, or chickpeas. There’s no harm in adding more veg for extra nutrients. Try this dish with broccoli, leeks, or peas.

Instead of Boursin, you can use cream cheese, Laughing Cow Cheese, feta, Alouette, or even a different Boursin flavour. Add freshly grated parmesan cheese to make this recipe even more decadent. For a bit of heat, top it with some red pepper flakes.

Tips for the best result

Make sure you add pasta water a little at a time to make a creamy sauce
This method ensures you don’t end up with watery Boursin cheese pasta. You can always add more water later if needed.

When you roast the garlic, use tongs to squeeze it out of the husk so you don’t have to wait for it to cool
This tip is great for when you’re in a time crunch (or when your kids are hangry). It will cut a few minutes off the time it takes to whip up this recipe.

Then, pop it in the oven and continue with the recipe.

This Boursin cheese pasta stores incredibly well. Once cooked, put it in an airtight container. You can keep it in the fridge for up to four days.

Reheat
If you’re ready to reheat your baked Boursin pasta leftovers, you can zap them on high-heat in the microwave. Heat them in 45-second intervals, stirring after each burst until heated through.

Can you freeze this?
Yes, you can also freeze this pasta recipe. Portion it into individual bowls to make reheating the pasta easier. Ensure you use airtight containers. It should be good in the freezer for up to three months. Thaw it in the fridge overnight before reheating.
