Easier Than Traditional: If you have ever tried poaching an egg the traditional way, you know that it is not easy. Messing with a large pot of water and eggs that seem to disperse and disappear is just not fun. But a poached egg in air fryer is super easy and worry free because it turns out every time.
Perfect every time: Every time I have made these eggs, they turn out perfect. The whites are cooked just enough and the yolk is nice and runny the way I love it. I think they are actually fool-proof!
No vinegar required: Vinegar is used when eggs are poached the traditional way to keep the eggs together. But since this air fryer method uses ramekins to keep the eggโs shape, the vinegar is not needed. Which means you really only need 2 ingredients for this recipe!
Healthy: Poached eggs in air fryer are nutrient dense, high in protein, keto friendly, low carb, and now super easy to poach. Plus there is less oil used with poaching versus traditional pan frying.

I first had a poached egg when I visited Paris. We were in a small little cafe right near Centre Georges Pompidou and the egg was served on a bed of lettuce with a delicious bacon vinaigrette. To this day, I can still remember that meal and it is one of the best I have ever had. Maybe it was the poached egg…maybe it was the bacon vinaigretteโฆor maybe it was just the fact that I was in Paris.
But whatever the case, to this day I still love making poached eggs. However, making a poached egg the traditional way, by getting the water to simmer just right but not boil, adding vinegar, and hoping your eggs donโt fall apart. Well, it can be a lot of work and most of the time the eggs actually do fall apart.
So when I learned this method to air fry poached eggs, I was ecstatic. I suddenly had all the perfectly poached eggs I could want and they were stress free and fast.
Eggs: Any type of chicken egg will work for this recipe. I normally use large eggs.
Water: The water needs to be hot so it can start cooking the egg whites as soon as you add it.
Use what you have: If you donโt have ceramic ramekins, that is okay. Make them in muffin tins, silicone muffin containers, or glass ramekins. Just make sure they are oven safe.
Spice them up with salsa: I love salsa on eggs, so adding it to airfryer poached eggs on toast is a no-brainer for me.
Use bacon grease: Using bacon grease to grease the ramekin is an easy way to give your poached eggs a little extra flavor from the beginning.
Add seasoning: Whether it is Italian, Mexican, or just salt and pepper, adding some extra seasoning can change up this morning habit and keep it fun.

Start by preheating the airfryer to 360ยฐF (180ยฐC)
3. Add an egg into each ramekin. The hot water will help the egg whites to start cooking (Image 3).
4. Place the filled ramekins into the airfryer tray and cook for 6 minutes, checking to see if they are done (depending on how you like your eggs cooked) it may take a minute longer (Image 4).
5. Once the eggs are ready, remove them for the ramekin using oven gloves and a spatula(Image 5).
6. Serve on a bed of rice and add your favorite sauce (Image 6).

Safely remove ramekins from the air fryer using a spatula underneath and a potholder or oven mitt on top when lifting them out of the air fryer. Be careful not to spill any of the liquid.
Once they are on a heat safe surface, gently slide a butter knife around the outside of the ramekin and use a large slotted spoon or small spatula to lift the cooked egg out.
Remove Egg Immediately: Donโt let the egg sit in the hot ramekin after cooking or the egg will continue to cook and may become overdone.
Hot Water: Using hot water ensures the egg whites start to cook before the yolks, creating the perfect poached egg with a runny center.
As mentioned above, I love my poached eggs on a piece of toasted bread with some salsa. But I also love adding things like avocado, asparagus, fresh tomatoes, and arugula. Another great idea is to place the egg on a sandwich or on top of a salad.

Cold water will not work with this recipe. The point of using hot water is to get the cooking process started on the egg whites before the yolk. If you use cold water, the water will heat up at the same time as the rest of the egg and not help you cook the white faster than the yellow.
This is something you may have to test out for yourself. Place the egg containers you plan to use in your air fryer while it is cool to see how many will fit. I have a Corsi that will fit just 2 ramekins at a time. However, I know some of the Ninjas can fit up to 6 ramekins.
Adding hot water to the eggs helps keep them from getting overcooked rubbery edges around the outside. The hot water promotes a more even cooking and also starts cooking the egg-white sooner so the yellow stays soft.
In a traditional water bath used to poach eggs, vinegar is added to help the eggs hold together and keep their shape. Since we are using ramekins for this method, the vinegar is not needed.
